Parent/Guardian Info

We need many volunteers to help during the week of sailing school. Please note where you can help.

Coos Sailing Foundation Donations

The Coos Sailing Foundation was formed to allow individuals to donate to benefit our youth sailing programs. The Foundation is a 503c entity that can provide a charitable tax deduction for any funds received.

We welcome public participation in our schools and seasonal sailing events. We are sponsored by the Coos Bay Yacht Club using their member access only facilities. The Coos Bay Yacht Club has granted public access for our sailing schools and granted nonmember limited access to sailing events for students that have completed the Foundations Sailing School.

The fee that we request for registration only covers expenses incurred during sailing school. All instructors are volunteers and receive no compensation for taking time away from their jobs.

We welcome any donations to allow us to expand our efforts and appreciate the members that volunteer their time and resources to make our schools successful.

Terms & Waivers

I understand my student/sailor must be able to swim well enough to enable themselves to get back into a capsized boat. A basic swim test is required for beginning sailing students, while wearing a life jacket.
I understand my student sailor needs a supervising parent or adult CBYC member sponsor present on site who is responsible for entry, information, and supervision during the “on the docks" and “on the water” activities. Any exceptions need to be discussed with the instructor prior to registration. The parent/sponsor will assume all liability for the activities for the student. Parents are expected to volunteer during the week.
I understand there will be no kids on the dock or diving board that are not participating in sailing school until after school ends each day; and no use of club owned paddle boards & kayaks during the week of sailing school.
I understand that life jackets must be worn on the docks by both students and adults during sailing school. All guests of the club under the age of 12 are required to wear a life jacket at all times on the docks and in the water. CBYC members under the age of 12 may only be in the water without a life jacket if they have passed the swim test. (See the policy in the yearbook.)
I hereby authorize Coos Sailing Foundation and it representatives to seek and receive emergency medical treatment for the above student sailor.
I hereby agree to hold harmless, to exempt from liability and defend the Coos Bay Yacht Club, Coos Sailing Foundation, its officers, members, and sailing school instructors from any legal action taken as a result of any injuries, property damage, death, or other liabilities incurred during the Junior Sailing School at the Coos Bay Yacht Club or while upon club property or using club or privately owned boats.
I agree that my student's picture may be taken and used for video or media release. Student names will not be release without additional consent.
